What is the DIVents Charter?

Divento: I grow, I become

The name of the Charter takes inspiration from the Latin/Italian word 'divento' which means I grow, I become, as its aspiration is to equip organisations and individuals with the awareness and guidance that will allow them to become truly inclusive and fully embrace diversity in everything they do.

The DIVents Charter provides a 360 degrees blueprint to increasing diversity, inclusion and visibility of diverse groups in communications, events, marketing activities and effectively any internal or external output an organisation may be developing or supporting.

What do the 360 degrees mean?

It means you will show leadership and commitment to diversity, inclusion and visibility at all levels. Leadership is about people. It’s about all those who contribute to the task including executives, directors, HR team, interns, casting agents, delivery partners, creatives, speakers, performers, make-up artists… when we say 360 degrees, we mean everyone. It’s imperative to understand that leadership and learning go hand in hand – there is no set rule on who ‘can’ be the game-changer in the organisation: we can all make a difference.

Signatories to this Charter commit to taking tangible actions to ensure the communications (internal and external), events (they organise, sponsor, support or take part in), and marketing activities are increasingly more diverse and most importantly inclusive. They commit to do so in a visible and accountable way to role model best practice. Moreover, although primarily focused on communications, events and marketing, the spirit of the DIVents Charter is equally applicable to any other output including internal and external recruitment, PR, operations, and more.

This Charter is designed to cover all levels of intersectionality and it’s easily adaptable to your demographics, ensuring full inclusion and visibility is rolled out within all involved parties.

We have created 3 levels of accreditation your organisation can choose to work towards. These are Ready (being the entry-level), Active, and Accomplished (the highest).

How does it work?

Your accreditation is built around you, and the way we work with you is tailored to your needs, capacity and timescales. However, the overall process looks like this…

Number one

ASSESSMENT

You will complete our online self-assessment. We will then see how workplace stacks up against our topic areas - where you are doing well and where you need to improve.

Number two

SUPPORT

You will learn ways to meet the standards of the Charter, building on best practice and resources you will be given access to. You will also be assigned a consultant to develop your action plan, as well as identify any needs for staff training.

Number three

ACCREDITATION

Our consultants will assess your evidence submission, portfolio and any follow-up interview data against the DIVents Charter standards to help you identify the level that is right for your organisation at this particular time

Number four

RECOGNITION

Receive your accreditation from the Diversity Pride's DIVents Charter, as well as a post-assessment pack to help you celebrate your success and implement any additional improvement measures identified.

Most Popular FAQ`s

BIG NO! It is about giving a voice to equally talented individuals and not dismissing the diverse communities that exist within each industry. Also, see question 7.

Accreditations are generally valid for a period of one (1) year, and will be monitored by Diversity Pride on a regular basis.

Renewal: Every organisation accredited by Diversity Pride has to undergo the annual audits in order to renew their membership at least three (3) months before expiry date.

Yes! We have set the entry-level fee at the lowest possible (to cover our time to conduct the initial assessment and provide recommendations as well the bi-annual assessments) to ensure even the small organisations can be part of the movement. Not-for-profits can also benefit from discounts and sponsorship. Get in touch with our team to discuss your possibilities  diventscharter@diversitypride.org

Most fees are non-refundable due to the advance booking fees we pay to our consultants. However, in case you wish to postpone certain training our team will be very happy to find new, more suitable dates to deliver the agreed activities.

The simple answer is no. We need to be able to work with each partner for a minimum of 12 months to assess whether you meet all the Accomplished accreditation standards.

Absolutely! It is your choice. However, you can also choose from a list we have of charities that wish to sign up but don’t have the funds to do so.

If we think you are not adhering to the Charter standards, we will contact you to check if you still wish to be on the signatories list. Diversity Pride reserve the right to downgrade the accreditation (e.g. from Accomplished to Active) or request removal of DIVents Charter logo and any Diversity Pride brand assets from a signatory’s website if you do not commit to complying with the Charter. We will, however, do our best to work with your and your team to ensure all the activities are up-to our standards and keep you on the track to success.

Change will not take a month or two, it takes a long time; It is highly recommended you sign-up and commit to this journey for at least 2-3 years. Also, you can always downgrade your package to keep the basic training so your newly-hired staff can get the most up-to-date information from across industries.
